Noah Rosenberg laboratory at the University of Michigan

The Rosenberg lab is affiliated with a variety of administrative units at the University of Michigan, including the Department of Human Genetics in the medical chool, the Department of Biostatistics in the school of public health, the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts, the Bioinformatics graduate program, the Life Sciences Institute, and the Center for Statistical Genetics. This means that there are many avenues through which individuals with appropriate interests and skills can join the group.

Undergraduate students
The lab will sometimes list projects with the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP), and qualified U of M students are encouraged to apply. Undergraduates enrolled at any university in Michigan may also be considered for a summer project in the lab through the Perrigo Summer Fellows Program. Undergraduates at any university who are from groups historically underrepresented in the biological and computational sciences may also be eligible for summer research through the Summer Research Opportunity Program.

Graduate students
Students can enter the lab through graduate programs in bioinformatics, biostatistics, ecology and evolutionary biology, or human genetics. The human genetics graduate program is coordinated through the university's Program in Biomedical Sciences (PIBS), which encompasses programs in a variety of biological disciplines. Students interested in the bioinformatics program can apply directly or can apply to it through PIBS. The biostatistics and ecology and evolutionary programs are separate programs not affiliated with PIBS, and students apply to this program directly. In both the bioinformatics program and the human genetics program, students have the opportunity to do research rotations in the lab before selecting it as their dissertation laboratory.

Postdoctoral fellows
US citizens with appropriate research interests may be eligible for postdoctoral fellowships through the Training Program in Genomic Science. Postdoctoral fellowships sponsored directly by the lab may sometimes also be available, and interested individuals are encouraged to inquire.
